Training for Civil Society Representatives Held in Dushanbe on Monitoring the Criminal Justice System of Tajikistan
On 3–4 June 2026, the Public Organization “Human Rights Centre”, in partnership with the International Partnership for Human Rights (IPHR), conducted a training session for members of an informal civil society network in Dushanbe. The event was held with the financial support of the European Union as part of the project “Supporting Civil Society Action to Advance the Rule of Law for All in Tajikistan.”
The training brought together 40 representatives of civil society organizations from across all regions of Tajikistan, including lawyers, human rights defenders, and independent experts. Particular emphasis was placed on the participation of women, youth, and members of vulnerable groups.
During the training, participants were introduced to international human rights and criminal justice standards, an adapted monitoring methodology, tools for data collection and analysis, as well as practical approaches to preparing analytical findings and reports.
The sessions were facilitated by Tatyana Zinovich, project expert and developer of the criminal justice monitoring methodology; Nigina Bakhrieva, human rights expert and Head of HRLab at the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights; and Olga Didenko, expert in human rights, gender equality, and anti-corruption, attorney, LLM.
The event marked a significant milestone in strengthening the role of civil society in advancing justice sector reforms and embedding rights-based monitoring practices in Tajikistan.
