Working Meeting of the Monitoring Group
From August 23 to 25, 2025, at Green Wood House in Hisor, the Public Organization “Human Rights Center” held a three-day working meeting with members of the monitoring group operating under the Coalition of Civil Society against Torture and Impunity in Tajikistan.
The purpose of the meeting was to prepare the monitoring group for conducting monitoring in correctional institutions. Within the framework of the event, participants became acquainted with national legislation and international standards, monitoring tools and observation checklists, as well as discussed practical aspects of carrying out monitoring.
In the near future, monitoring is planned in three correctional institutions: YAS 3/12 — Juvenile Correctional Colony in Dushanbe; YAS 3/8 — Women’s Colony in Nurek; YAS 3/13 — Medical Correctional Facility in Vahdat.
This activity is carried out within the framework of the Strategy for Reforming the Criminal Penalties Enforcement System of the Republic of Tajikistan until 2030.
The work is conducted with the support of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Tajikistan and the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF) within the projects: “Strengthening NGOs to Promote Human Rights in Tajikistan’s Prisons” and “Strengthening Civil Society to Promote the Rights of Prisoners in Tajikistan”.
