From February 23 to 25, 2024, the Human Rights Center,
in partnership with the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights (Warsaw, Poland),
organized a three-day training session aimed at enhancing the capacity of
members of the Monitoring Group of the Civil Society Coalition against Torture
and Impunity.
The training’s primary focus was on
“Methodologies for monitoring correctional facilities and the development
of monitoring tools.” The trainers were Alexandra Ivanovska, Director of
the Eurasia Program at HFHR, and Agnieszka Kłosowska, an expert in penitentiary
staff education at HFHR.
Based on the event’s outcomes, the Monitoring Group,
alongside experts, developed tools, an observation map, and reporting forms to
facilitate monitoring in detention facilities.
This training was supported by the United Nations
Democracy Fund and the Government of Switzerland.
